Three Ways To Revive A Sluggish Workforce

One of the biggest mistakes I made when I started my first business was overlooking the importance of financial management. I had no idea how to do business accounting or even manage my inventory properly. At tax time, I was in way over my head. I spent a long time working with a business accountant to understand the basics and explore the details of the process so that I could manage my own books through the year. That's when I published this blog. I hope the information here will help others like me who don't have the financial edge but still want to run their own business.

If your business is chugging along but not making any great strides, this could keep your company stagnant for a long time. This could mean fewer profits coming in than projected, plus fewer projects that your workers are able to put passion into. All of this makes for a company that is not striving in the way that it should. Here are three things that you can do in order to get your employees motivated and feeling energetic about the business again.

Hire a guest speaker

A guest speaker who has a Cinderella tale about going from low energy to high enthusiasm and winning at the game of business is perfect. Taking half a day off or treating the entire team to a long lunch is the best way to get everyone in to see a guest speaker. Guest speakers that offer solutions and troubleshooting to lost enthusiasm are best and they can get your employees thinking about ways to get back on the grind. The guest speaker should resonate with the office and allow

Start up some new projects

One of the best ways to revive some enthusiasm into any department is to start a new project. If things are monotonous for your company, start up a new project in order to get the blood flowing again. Small projects that help with community outreach are a great thing to launch, especially if you are not able to start up major company projects right away. If the budget is clear for projects, you should find a project to help kick up revenue that each department could get in on.

Rethink your work hours

It is rare that most employees in a business are completely productive for the entire eight hours that they are in the office. This means that work time is being wasted and overhead is being wasted. Instead of hoping that your workers become more productive, you may want to rethink work hours. You could allow employees and departments to select their own work hours, as long as they work 40 hours in a week. You can also allow some employees to work from home several times a week to determine if this will help to increase your business production and increase your review. Allowing employees to split up their shifts or work from home may make employees a little more excited about the company and the ability to get work done on their own time.
